Every single personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, and any applications that are currently installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each and every app runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so that you can set up a different software environment on the very same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
Our VPS server plans include three Linux distributions that you may select from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being totally free, the OSs are very stable and secure and the reason to offer you all three of them is to ensure that you'll be able to run every app that you'd like, since different pieces of software have different requirements in terms of the environment they work on. Each of the three OSs is backed by a huge community of developers who have produced many hundreds of software packages that you can install and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System which you choose, you will also be able to select between three different Control Panels to control your website hosting content. Also, in case you decide that you need another OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As an optional upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for max stability and security.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated servers that we offer come with three different Operating Systems as we want to offer you more versatile plans that will allow you to install and run any type of web software irrespective of its system requirements. The choices are CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu and these three OSs are among the most reliable and secure ones, not mentioning that they don't have any license fees. All three have a large number of developers who have created a huge number of software packages that you could install and use on your web server. We also offer three hosting Control Panels and which one you can use depends on the Operating System that you choose when you register. If you need another OS later on, it won't be a problem as we can always reinstall your server. With our Managed Services package we can also keep your OS secure by upgrading it every week with any patches which are available for it.
