An access log is a text file which contains an extensive list of all of the files accessed by your site visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script program and a visitor opens just the home page, for example, you may find a lot of files inside the log. This is because there are elements on the home page which are embedded - parts of other web pages, pics, etc. These files will be listed in the access log, so you're able to get a complete picture of the way your website performs. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes called "raw data" too. An access log shows the name of each and every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, web browser and OS. More information, like the referrer website, is usually included too. A log file may be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats provided by your web server.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Web Hosting
Our custom-built Hepsia CP has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. Once you sign in to your cloud web hosting
account and take a look at this section, you shall find a list of all the domains
and subdomains that you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you shall see a download link along with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and view it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you no longer need one, you may stop it with simply a click from the exact same section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your websites inside a semi-dedicated server
account with our company, you'll have the option to enable or disable the generation of access logs with only several clicks inside your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall find this feature in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access once you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is one click on the On button which you can see there. The function can be activated individually for any website regardless if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you'll find the full list of all the hosts within that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you can then look at it manually or use some software on your computer. The log generation could be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off within the Logs section of your Control Panel.
